Partnership

Coast to coast, from Bari to Kotor, passing through Ravenna, Venice and Piran the project is building a permanent partnership of 13 different organizations aimed to revitalize historical and cultural environment in the name of future potential investments.

The partners

Veneto Region  

Veneto Region

Veneto Region is the leader project and the coordinator of all the activities of ADRIFORT.
Its role is to set up a cross border platform for the promotion and development of heritage (heritage conservation, social development and economic sustainability) that will be operative for the long run.

City of Venice  

City of Venice

The defensive historical system in the Venetian area, consisting of more than 100 sites built over centuries of history, is one of the most important in Europe and is mostly included in the City of Venice.
Fortifications are the mainland, in front of the sea and in many islands in the lagoon.
The oldest of now existing fortresses was builded in the middle age, the last during the first World War.
The same lagoon was part of the history defensive system, not allowing enemy's ships to sail easily.
Then the coastal fortified heritage potentially included in the ADRIFORT Project activities has a peculiar connection with environment.

Forte Marghera is of the main parts of this heritage.

University of Cà Foscari  

University of Cà Foscari

Cà Foscari's participation adds important scientific competencies in the sphere of cutural heritage reuse and valorisation, especially in turistic terms.

Furthermore the University of Venice has a permanent staff with high level ok knowledge related to the fields of regional economy and sustainable development.

Municipality of Ravenna - Tourism and Culture Department  

Municipality of Ravenna - Tourism and Culture Department

For the purposes of implementing the Adrifort project, the Municipality of Ravenna has involved the Tourism and Culture Department that promotes cultural heritage activities in the territory.
Especially the Municipality of Ravenna will contribute in ADRIFORT capitalizing and bringing knowledge for cultural, recreational and touristic re-use of heritage, especially for the case study of Rocca Brancaelone, that is a city fortification of Venetian origin, which was built by the Venetians in 1457 with the purpose of reinforcing the defensive structures of the city.

Puglia Region  

Puglia Region

Puglia Region costs are disseminated with important examples of fortified heritage from different historical periods, often placed in valuable naturalistic contexts.
The participation in ADRIFORT is therefore important to include such territories in the network.
Puglia experience in the heritage management will also be a strategic contribution to the project; since years, in fact, the Region have been putting affords in the valorization of Cultural Heritage as a key element in territorial development and especially of coastal areas.
Puglia Region will also coordinate ADRIFORT section project dedicated to the definition funding strategies and financial schemes involving private partners for the valorization of fortresses.

City of Pula  

City of Pula

City of Pula-Pola as partner is contributing to the project in all its working packages. With its working team City of Pula-Pola implements activities of revitalization, preservation and re-usage of the fortification system in the area of Štinjan.
Also, it will participate with others project partners in the preparations of all events such as press conferences, round tables, seminars as well as disseminations of promo materials with the goal to create a “cultural tourist product” for promotion and valorization of the fortified area.

University of Pula  

University of Pula

The participation of the University of Pula in the ADRIFORT network guarantees a multidisciplinary approach to the heritage vaolrization.
Its contribution is focused on increasing the knowledge in the field of professional training and supportin institutional staff competences.
Toghether with the University of Cà Foscari, Pula University represents an important partner for scientific attendibility of the project.

Municipality of Piran  

Municipality of Piran

Municipality of Piran introduce in ADRIFORT Project the complexity of the management of the cultural heritage in historic centre interested by large touristic fluxes, where the accessibility is a tool for local governance.
Piran has a large experience about strategies for cultural heritage sustainable development and valorisation to offer to the ADRIFORT Network. Sustainable mobility and the improvement of the medieval city walls inside the local production of cultural tourism can be useful items for the whole ADRIFORT Network.

Municipality of Corfu  

Municipality of Corfu

The island of Corfu is located on the northwestern border of Greece and surrounded by the Adriatic sea. It hosts many fortification compounds.
Within the frameworks of the program ADRIFORT the Municipality intend to give prominence to its cultural heritage, thus completing an historical documentation and conservation study.
The ultimate goal is the reintegration and use of local fortresses, especially the Venetian Naval Base, by the habitants of Corfu. Another target is to contribute to the international discussion about cultural heritage and exchange of ideas by different nations, creating the infrastructure for a future management.

Municipality of Kotor  

Municipality of Kotor

The medieval city of Kotor is located on a triangular piece of land surrounded bu the Adriatic Sea and fortified bastions erected during the Venetian occupation, wich represent one of the most important examples of defensive Venetian military architecture. The site has been placed on the World Heritage List since 1979. The Municipality of Kotor is contribuiting to ADRIFORT with the dissemination and promotion of the projecy in whole Montenegro. Environmental management, cultural heritage and transport accessibility are the expertise that this partner is sharing with ADRIFORT, together with the european supported financial commitment of recovering a specific location, Fort Trojica.

Fort Trojica is an Austro-Hungarian fortress which holds a great importance in an historical as well as cultural meaning for the coastal area of Montenegro. The fortress is situated on the pass that connects two municipalities, Kotor and Tivat, therefore having had an important geo-strategic position. Remains of this old three-floor fortress are preserved and integrated with a new terrace. The new terrace is designed as a ground floor and semicircular fort of extremely fine cut stone. 

Thanks to Adrifort, this ancient site will be put into function again after a conservation study prepared by the Institute for Conservation of Kotor. Within the research and the preparation of the documentation a team of experts will explore the materials and structures of the fortress itself in order to allow the Minucipality of Kotor to once again have practical use of this historical treasure.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana  

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana has a wide experience in European Projects, especially in Adriatic areas. Lately it has concentrated all its efforts focusing on sustainable tourism devolopment and building network to improve the innovation's possibility of territorial and productive system thourgh cooperation. The partecipation in the ADRIFORT network is a new opportunity to strategically engage the business community and private sector around cultural heritage in Albania.

Ministry of Culture of Albania  

Ministry of Culture of Albania

The Ministry of Culture has overall responsibility over the culture sector. It is the institution responsible for cultural integration into Europe in line with the Government of the Republic of Albania. The Ministry of Culture has also responsibilities for preparation of protective policies and promotional designs for National Culture (cultural heritage) and creates room for the storage of cultivating a culture of writing. Ministry's mission in culture sector in to promote a steady, sustainable culture development. Albania Ministry of Culture will contribute in Adrifort project to stress specifically the foundation of cross-border collaboration able to set out encouraging synergies for the recovering, valorisation and promotion of Fortified Heritage.
